A New Number One Laboratory

A brief history and how we got here.

Number One Laboratory began in my one room basement apartment in 2010.  After much trial and error, I uploaded the original Number One STP to Etsy.

I made my first sale within the week, and was also quickly selling through several small sex positive retail stores.

Over the years I was able to expand my product selection, include a variety of harnesses, hone my moldmaking skills.  I was able to hire a full time employee who is still a cherished friend.

But as I worked to expand my product line, I also failed a lot.  Moldmaking can be a joy and can also be a frustrating curse of failures.  One of the things that was really holding me back was the need to be able to produce in larger quantities for wholesale sales.  I would make a series of molds for a new product, and they'd shrink, or fail to produce in some other way.

Selling through other retail stores also limited my ability to offer a wider range of colors and sizes.  My goal has always been to make an STP that will fit the wearer.  But bodies are so different in so many ways, that customization just was not possible without becoming a shop that specifically catered directly to my buyers.

2020 brought hardships to us, as it did to us all, and eventually I had to let my employee go.  However, taking the manufacturing back on myself was an enlightening reminder of what was really working, and what wasn't, in my designs, materials, and molds.  I went back to design and moldmaking basics, but with all the knowledge I'd acquired over the years.

I began working on the series of STP Skins that are available now.  My focus on making the product as customizable for the wearer as possible.  I wanted something that could be worn like a packy, compactable and comfortable.  While also being functional as an STP (but where the STP cup wasn't always sitting between the legs).  Ultimately, I wanted to make something versatile and customizable to be able to fit any body.

My new series of STPs and Skins are designed to be able to be used together, or apart.  The Skins may be worn as a comfortable packy.  Or they can be used to holster an STP.  The STP may be selected to fit the wearer in cup size and tube length, and may also be used separately.

I've learned a lot over the years and I hope to pass that on to my customers as I continue to offer innovative solutions and new products.  Keep checking back, I pan to be releasing new products soon!

Sincerely,
Kit
